brake pipe leaking

Post by nod »

Hi
just had my C5 2.00i petrol in for a service 234440klm changend timing belt at the same timeand they told me the brake pipe that goes from the front of the car to the back is leaking and needs replacing, they quoted me 6500dkr around £650 pounds can this be right for a brake pipe? they say thay have to remove the petrol tank to get to it. I live in Danmark and I know it's expensive here but 650 for a bit of pipe?

hi and welcome

can they not just cut and join a new section of pipe to replace the bad piece,

for an example here is price and part No. for one type of MK1 C5 front to rear brake pipe,

Part Number Description Quantity Price excl. VAT Price incl. VAT Total incl. VAT Selection
00004886V3 SET OF 2 PIPES 45.75 GBP 54.90 GBP 54.90 GBP

this one shows it is two pipes connected together at the front end, which split one to each side at the rear end,

if you send me the last 8 digits of your chassis/VIN No. i will get you price and part No. of the correct pipe/s for your car
Regards, malcolm.

ok thanks Malcom,
the last 8 digits of the chassis No 76443292. they did tell me at the garage that the pipe was not so expensive and the main part of the bill would be labour because the petrol tank has to be droped, so maybe that is correct?
