Hi all,
When I start the car in the morning or when leaving work the stop warning comes on for 20-30 seconds then goes off and drives as normal. Been doing this for 2 to 3 weeks. Also the oil temp light shows the same time. The oil level is on max. Yesterday I restarted car three hours after driving a few miles (from cold) and there was no warning.
Before I get it on a Lexia is there a common fault anyones had? I am guessing its "oil" related? Also for the past year, after slightly over filling with oil, on first starting the car it flashed up max oil warning but thats stopped a couple of months ago as the oil level dropped marginally.
Thanks for any suggestions.
Jeff

Thanks Taffy, could well be as in the last few months I had a split on the n/side front strut return pipe which I repaired
by attaching a new bit of pipe so maybe slight weep still there.

Stop Light still coming on when starting from cold and goes off after about 20-30 seconds. Checked LDS fluid level and thats okay. So I guess its a loose brake pad wire or low level material on the pads ? Does anyone have any different idea's / experience of this problem? Also would this be recorded as a fault code? Thanks for help.

Had something very similar on the Xantia, only it was the water temp. red warning light that was staying on with the stop message, would stay on when started after being left overnight or more than a few hours and would go out as soon as the engine was revved. Topped up the coolant, which was a bit low, and now no warning light.

Watch the lcd screen carefully, often it will flash up a message related to the stop sign, low water, top up screen wash, low oil pressure etc. message is there and gone is a mo.

I had a related problem with mine, it would suddenly cut out with the stop light on always when going down hill, it would start again after a few minutes and drive quite happily, I suspected low oil level but didn't know there was a sensor that caused the engine to cut out but there apparently is, the oil i was a little low and the low oil warning would sometimes come on when I started the engine, I changed the oil and it is now full to the mark, although I drained over 3 litres out, we have just come back from Cornwall and it didn't miss a beat.
Knowing the oil problems the 1.6s have I would suspect the oil is thick and not flowing freely when started from cold, if it hasn't been changed recently, this is a contributory factor to turbocharger failure. I would change the oil about every 5000 miles to safeguard the turbo. (sorry, just noticed yours is also a 2.0 l, I change my oil at about 8k)
