Post by waynedance »

Things changed on my car in last 3 years, some needed some deffo not!!!

Right where to start? and not in any order.

Engine replaced with 40k one from a 607. flood damaged...

stupid yes!!
Air flow meter, damaged while changing engine.
Duel mass and clutch while engine out.
Both front door locks replaced, started to not unlock.
Both front door interior handles, old ones scratched.
Passenger window switch, again old one scratched.
o/s/f brake caliper.
Discs and pads at front and rear pads.
Rear calipers removed and swapped sides due to corrosion.
Heater resistor.
Modified motor fitted for passenger side heater air mixture.
Washer pump x 2.
Brand new windscreen wiper arms for a mk2 model so I could have standard flat blades.
New side repeaters, old ones looking tired.
Washer bottle cap, old one broken of the tie that holds it on.
Sanded down and repainted wheels.
Removed tyre pressure sensors and cleaned up rubber seals, was loosing a little air.
DPF fluid refilled.
DPF removed and cleaned out while engine was being changed.
Only use Shell fuel & use Forte fuel cleaner every couple of months.
Door speakers replaced with Kenwood direct replacements.
Kenwood bluetooth radio fitted & sub in boot (yeah I'm 38 but love my music to sound good).
Recently changed all rear bulbs (one blown so changed all), got for free.
LED's fitted to the rear number plate, boot, front side lights, interior, foot wells & puddle lights.
Day time running lights fitted which auto dim.
Clutch and brake pedal rubbers changed as wearing on edge.
Front lower arm, ball joints, drop links. Done not long after buying, wanted to be as good as could be.
Dash was coming unstuck above glove box, fixed with garden plant wire (don't ask).
Swirl valve replaced while engine was out, made sense.
Replaced the front spoiler that fits in front of the front caliper as it was missing.
Regas/service air con yearly.
Change oil every 6k with low saps stuff.
Gear box oil changed.
Brake fluid changed.
All parking dings that can be removed done so.
O/s drive shaft, was getting a slight vibration.
Just fitted 4 x Vredestein quatrac 3 all seasons.
Water pipe, I broke it.
Fuel filter housing top, broke it.
Battery.

Nothing wrong with the gear knob then?
OCD would be when you polish the mirror, wipe the seat and turn round three times before every journey.

Gear knob still looks like new.... :-D

Now you mention it, I only start the engine with the clutch down.
I leave idling for 10 seconds before switching engine off.
I always put foot down on brake pedal before applying hand brake and never use the ratchet.
Always try to park out the way and try to keep away from other cars.

Apart from the foot brake down before engaging the handbrake, I do much the same. I would still change that gear knob just to be on the safe side. It's almost the only original part.

I need a new gear knob, the chrome is flaking off mine...
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

OCD is when you remove the washer bottle to clean it inside and out; while it's removed you wash and polish the area it normally covers inside the wheelarch.

If when you approached the water you thoughts were that you were going to give the underside of the car a good wash, then yes you have OCD :)

I used to be like a bit like that - now they only get attention if they stop or a light comes on - then it depends which one. :( :?

I have done this more than once. Never on a Citroen. Does that make a difference?

My wife says I have SCOCD. The S stands for a word that rhymes with "white" and describes many of my cars aptly.
