dashboard light

Post by froggy »

Hi, my series 1 Xantia, when I start- up the engine fires then. I get a yellow flashing light, it flashes between eight and ten times every start up. It looks like a dipstick ! checked oil. thats ok, wondering what the symbol means ? thanks for your help, Terry.

There's a warning light (Yellow/Amber color) for the engine oil level which looks like a "dipstick" as you define. Normally it should come on with the ignition on and shortly after it should go out. If it flashes for about 15 seconds then you should check the oil level. You have checked and it was OK. Then I would suspect the sensor is broken or the wire is damaged(?). You can start by reading the resistance value of the sensor.
