Xantia Auto box

Just a quickie - my auto box selector was always stiff - but has since virtually locked up (causing me to force it) followed by now being "floppy". Can someone please confirm if this is cable operated (it felt like a frayed cable) - and if it is, how difficult the replacement of said cable would be.

I have since stripped it down and found it to be a siezed cable - the replacement being a snip @ 114 GBP's - wow it must be gold lined !
