Xantia Exclusive Passenger Wing Mirror not Dropping
When I select reverse the passenger wing mirror does not drop on my Xantia.
Would like to get this sorted, but literally have no clue where to look first. Is there a relay hidden away somewhere.
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards

Re: Xantia Exclusive Passenger Wing Mirror not Dropping
Unfortunatly do not have a Lexia, but have a spares car with a working dropping mirror.
Where's the ECU, just wondered if I could swap them over to test.
Cheers

Re: Xantia Exclusive Passenger Wing Mirror not Dropping
The dipping mirror ecu is behind the trim on tie passenger door. I don't think it has any connection to the diagnostic socket (or other ecu), I have never seen one talk to a Lexia. I think the only extra wire in the door harness is the feed from the reversing light switch.
Check that your reversing lights are working.

Re: Xantia Exclusive Passenger Wing Mirror not Dropping
Wasn't it an (expensive) option on later cars? If you post up the last 8 digits of the VIN, we can check on service.citroen to see if it says fitted or not.
Anyway, you need to actually move the mirror whilst it's in reverse for it to have an index postion to refer to - if this has not been done, then it won't dip....

I had one car where the mirror had been replaced with a non-dipping one to save money.xantia_v6 wrote:The dipping mirror ecu is behind the trim on tie passenger door. Good point V6 - non-dipping mirror is half the price of a dipping one - and non dipping are £200

Re: Xantia Exclusive Passenger Wing Mirror not Dropping
The dipping mirror definitely does talk to the Lexia on my S2 Exclusive, so I would assume so on all S2 cars that have it fitted. (Exclusive ?)xantia_v6 wrote:The dipping mirror ecu is behind the trim on tie passenger door. Not sure about Lexia communication on a S1. In S1 my VSX came with the dipping mirror and the two SX we had did not.
My guess is that unless Dave has previously seen it working on the same car that it is probably not fitted to his SX spec Xantia. Checking by VIN on service.citroen.com to see if it was ever fitted to the car could save needless disassembly to locate something that isn't there!
Edit: Just noticed Dave's sig says he has an SX and an Exclusive but he doesn't say which car he's asking about. Which car Dave ?

Re: Xantia Exclusive Passenger Wing Mirror not Dropping
It was fitted as standard on all exclusives even s1 v6 exclusives..
Heres a much easyer thing to check.. the mirror will NOT dip if the reversing light switch in the gearbox doesnt work.. so first things first.. do your reversing lights work?? Secondly has the mirror position actually been previously set?
If your reversing lights do work then select reverse then dip the mirror on the mirror control then take it out of reverse it should go back up... of course do it either with the engine running or ignition on..
The mirror gets the signal from the reversing light switch on the gearbox. If its dead then it wont work and personal experiance has shown me this too...

Re: Xantia Exclusive Passenger Wing Mirror not Dropping
I see that the control box does have a diagnostic pin, maybe my lexia is faulty, because it has never communicated with a mirror on any car so equipped.Mandrake wrote:The dipping mirror definitely does talk to the Lexia on my S2 Exclusive, so I would assume so on all S2 cars that have it fitted. What parameters does the lexia read for the mirror?

Re: Xantia Exclusive Passenger Wing Mirror not Dropping
I can't recall what options it has, I've only been into it a few times. I'd like to say it has an actuator test which allows you to move the mirror but I can't honestly remember. I'll check next time the Lexia is on the car.
Its one of those ECU's like the climate control that takes several attempts to connect and won't usually respond during a global test. (At least on mine) Have you tried going directly via test by function rather than global test and trying repeatedly to establish a dialogue ?

Paul and all, the reason for the lack of update will become clear below....citroenxm wrote:UPDATE Us Dave, did you work this out or sort it out????
I had not set the position of the wing mirror in the reverse position. Did that and all was working correctly.
What a chump.
