Xantia wing replacement procedure

Post by John Plum »

Hello folk, I've had a truck reverse turn and crush my driver side front wing. It appears the outer wing is simply bolted on: is replacement only a matter of unbolting and re-bolting, plus sealant?

Experienced tips appreciated.
Thanks in advance, John.

yup! there are the obvious bolts along the top of the wing in the bonnet shut area, a couple of bolts on the cross member/slam panel end, there's one in by the indicator and another tucked in half way in the area, takes a while to get out due to limited movement of ratchet spanner/wrench, the arch liner screws/bolts put a remarkably strong fight in to holding it all on too!!! there are a couple of bolts in the passenger door hinge and one Underneath on the sill, the sealant is quite strong but it the wings knackered then not too much bother in being a bit forceful in removal, iirc they are all 10mm bolts?? took me quarter of an hour to get mine off first time, most the time spent on the one that's in the indicator whole area!!
also make sure you move the side repeater loom too, and poke it back out the whole int he replacement wing before bolting it all back on! ;-) i'd say removal and replacement job is about half an hour for a confident sparnnerman!
