TD uses an inside-out clutch which makes the biting point near the top of the travel. If you are not getting enough travel the clutch will not disengage. The book says 140mm (IIRC, which I probably don't!) of pedal travel, but I think this is OTT for the TD. You should be able to adjust the cable - do it so that you get enough pedal movement to change gear cleanly.
If it was only changed 3 weeks ago, I'd take it back to where it was done and get them to adjust it properly!

I'd be interested to know where you've had it done. I have a few horror stories to share. Rather than risk sharing them on here, why not email me.

Just to be pedantic, Mr Haynes says the pedal should have 150mm of travel.

From experience, check the high pressure hydraulic pipes are not fouling the gear selection mechanism. "5th gear will get better with wear, sir" was thier diagnosis !
Aparently, leaving the selector rods bone dry is the done thing as well, no grease needed there, unless you want a proper job and easy gear selection.
Be rest assured that the pool of hydraulic fluid was there before your car.
