Wierd one this
If i leave the car overnight and jump in first thing of the morning the fans work fine.
If i stop car and try them again they light up on the console but no fans then the fan icon ghosts out.
I have replaced the thingy down by the clutch pedal as thought that might be playing up..
Would a power down of the ECU sort out this weird problem?

Re: C5 heater blower fans
With a modicum of care. Mine was replaced shortly before I bought this car. Two days ago I felt something under my left foot. Stopped the car to investigate and it was the blower module had fallen out from behind the trim.Clogzz wrote:Try tightening the plug connectors.
Picked it up to shove it back in and **&&^% it was hot, burned mu fingers so dropped it and the magic smoke came from one of the wires. The wire had been stressed at the terminal pin, started to break and couldn't carry the current and burned through. Job for the weekend and it's freezing going to work now

Re: C5 heater blower fans
if the fan system on the C5 id like the pug 307,
although its obviously a remote/separate speed control module on your car
my friends 307 fan was intermittent turned out to be the plug connector at the motor/speed control module had over heated,
i cleaned and tightened them up, this lasted about a year, we now have soldered short lengths of cable to each of the pins at the control module then fitted a heavy duty connector plug block to join the wires together,

Re: C5 heater blower fans
I'm guessing it's the same problem that I had with my previous car ('98 Xsara 1.9 TD) ... the whacking part on the passenger side gave me a clue ... never fully solved it, the problem was in the small electro-motor that runs the fan, it looses contact (rotor/stator parts get damaged from use, and the brushes don't have enough covering area for the electro-motor to turn) ... and the contact surface is small to begin with, so you're lucky when they work ... also, it wasn't easy to replace the motor, hard to access it, the simplest would be to exchange everything in my case ... this was especially irritating (the not working situation) during summers ...
