Clio Remote Central Locking

Can anyone help on this??
I have just got myself a 2001 clio and have noticed that I need to be very close to the car for the remote locking to activate. I've changed the battery in the fob but still have the same problem.
Any ideas??

Hi there
I have a Clio 1.4 RT (circa 1992). I have exactly the same problem.
I think because of the positioning of the infra-red receiver in the roof of the car, you have to be very close for the remote locking to work (so it is visible to the key).
If it was radio controlled, this wouldn't be an issue.

Unlikely to help, but try cleaning the receiver - especially if you smoke in the car.
