Resetting the ecu on a 406 2.1TD

Post by macaroni »

Does anyone know if it possible to reset the ecu on a Lucas injection equipped 406 2.1TD?

OK, I am going to sound stupid and immature now...
a while ago I had an uprated "Upsolute" ecu fitted. This was terrible. It made the car smoke like mad and gave me a measly 8 bhp extra. I had this removed and the stock ecu refitted.
I have just had a "tunit" piggy back ecu fitted and at first, it also didn't give much improvement in power. My initial post was to see if, after all the initial faffing about, my ecu would need resetting in order to reset all the standard senser values.
After taking my tunit back and another one fitted - the car now goes like a rocket and feels every bit like the 130bhp it should now be.
Thus, I guess that it doesn't need resetting and the initial torpor of the first tunit was just a faulty unit.
For the record, is it all possible to do such a thing? Or am I talking out of my tubes?
