CItroen DS5 suspension

Post by osx »

Does it come with a new version of Hydractive or only conventional one? Nice looking car and like the interior (although smaller compared to the C5).

And they screwed that up as well........I do wish they would stick with Hydro ...a shame to see it go

So are there no currently selling models that still offer Hydropneumatic suspension of some sort ?

I don't know about the C5 but the C6 as a model was discontinued last year!

Citroen France list the C5 with Hydractive 3 suspension as a current production model.

4 models in the French range. Attraction, Comfort, Exclusive and Exclusive Plus. There's also a special series Millenium+ and a Business model. Only the two Exclusive models get Hydractive 3.

In the UK the three models are still available to order, the VTR, VTR+ and the Exclusive (with Hydractive 3.)

DS5 gets revised suspension from next month, Nov production onwards.
I'm not sure of the details, I expect It will retain the same hardware, but with different springing/damping settings.

C5 Exclusive has hydractive suspension. VTR & VTR+ use a conventional set up.
Having experienced both types of suspension I'd say the difference between the two is less than you might imagine.
The conventional set up offers a pleasantly comfortable ride.

Ah. My mistake, I thought they'd stopped, or were shortly stopping production of the C5 and it was being replaced by the DS5.

The two set-ups that I tried were markedly different. The Hydractive with the "sport" mode was far and away a more comfortable experience and with the sport mode enabled it was more sure footed on the twisty bits. I didn't notice much difference between the C5 with conventional suspension than on my brother-in-law's Honda Accord
I opted for Hydractive suspension but it's all a matter of individual preference.

Well I for one WILL notice the loss of Hydro suspension....I use my Citroen's to carry CAST IRON Radiators....SPRINGS are CRAP with 500/600kg in the back !.
Time to buy some "stock" cars soon

The DS5 is not a replacement for the C5 as the C5 is a longer car and will have a new C5 coming out next year.
