Engine Transplant - possibilities ?

Post by mbunting »

I've been thinking ( and that's all it will be [:D] ) about the possibilities of engine transplants...
The 2.0 Hdi was used in the Xantia, and is used in the 307, as is the 1.4 Hdi.
Does this mean that all the HDI engines share the same mountings as the old XUD's ?
Getting to the point, would it be possible ( not necessarily practicle [;)] ) to put a 1.4Hdi ( 16v, of course [}:)] ) into a Xantia ( ignoring the fact you'd need to transfer the box and clutch ).
Or on the other end of the scale, given space, the 2.2Hdi [:D][:D]

Highly unlikely, I would have thought. Not even all the XUD's share the same top mountings.

Sounds about as useful as those 1100cc BXs they made for the Greek market.[xx(]

The big problem you will have is that HDI's have an electric immobilser which is set into the key and programmened into the ECU. You will also require a wiring loom etc etc, the list goes on and on.
By far the best thing is to buy Xantia HDI which is quite simple really.

No, he would be more interested in replacing a 1.4 with a 2.0 [:D][^]
