Heated seats on a C5
Tried using the heated seats on my C5 these past few morinings and although the passenger sides working fine mine does not. Anyone know if this a common fault? Be good to track it down tho really don't fancy having to take the whole seat apart
Any advice gratefully appreciated

Re: Heated seats on a C5
Can't help with the C5 seats (mine work fine) but the Saab 9-3 was known to have dodgy cable connections under the seat. I think it was a matter of unplugging and cleaning the connections and sometimes re-soldering. Never does any harm anyway. Better than stripping the upholstery to get at the heating elements.
Would the heating elements have a separate fuse to the seat movement one?

Re: Heated seats on a C5
You have to fit an 80 amp maxi fuse to the under bonnet fuse box when you fit the seats which I did, but don't know whether that is just for the heaters or the motors as well.

Re: Heated seats on a C5
That is for everything to do with the seats.
In the glovebox fuse box there are four more 30A fuses, two for each seat.
It is the small upper fusebox on the right of the diagnostic socket, Fusebox "C"
Fuses from right to left are:
G36. 30A. HiFi Amplifier.
G37. 30A. Front right hand electric seat
G38. 30A. Front left hand electric seat
G39. 30A. Front right hand heated seat
G40. 30A. Front leftt hand electric seat

Re: Heated seats on a C5
IIRC mine were but not the Maxi fuse. I didn't have electric seats originally.

Re: Heated seats on a C5
Mine was just missing the maxi fuse so presumably I must assume that my seat heaters are faulty, they came out of quite a low mileage car too.

Re: Heated seats on a C5
It is a total strip down of the seat by the look of it to replace then, they seem to be sandwiched between foam from what I could see when I had the leather in mine partially stripped

Re: Heated seats on a C5
Many thanks for the advice guys, I'll start by checking the fuses in the glovebox and work from there

Re: Heated seats on a C5
Finally had the chance to look at the fuses in the glove box and they are all intact. Oh well I will have a look at the seat when it stops raining!

The maxi fuse is on the underside of the engine fusebox.

Re: Heated seats on a C5
Neither of mine work, got as far as checking fuses and also resistance checked the drivers heat pad which had continuity but haven't got round to tracing it any further.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

I think most of the elements have gone open circuit by the time we get them.
