Unread post by CGATCX25GTITURBO »

Hi, would anyone know if these all use the same KKK03 turbo? and are there any short cuts to getting it off?

cheers

Its a few years since I replaced one on a 406 HDI, i remember that the 90 and 110 turbos seem interchangeable, only the outlet stub is different and surprisingly the bolts came out easily, not too bad a job IMO.

Same kind of job as a 306 if I remember correctly, it's a pig of a job, last time we did one, we removed the front subframe.
I think there may be more than 1 different manufacturer of turbos used.

That was my understanding thanks, I'd better get the old one off first then before replacement parts.

is it just a matter of choice then? all the other pipe work the same for either manufacturer?

I have swapped KKK for Garrett on XUDs you will need the appropriate oil feed and return pipes at least, I think the tuners only liked Garrett because it was a bit easier to tweak the wastegate, nothing in it as far as durability goes.

Thanks, it gets more interesting. I should be safe buying a KKK core unit then :)

Im under the impression that HDi 90 and HDi 110 turbos are different. The outlet is in a different place and the HDi 90 uses an internal release pressure controlled wastegate, where the 110 turbos use a Vaccuum controlled by ECU via an electrovalve turbo, which defaults to WIDE OPEN waste gate if no vaccuum is applied to the wastegate end..
