Well have I made a mistake and bought a C8?. On the surface of things its seems a great car and made sense when moving from our reliable C5HDI to a C8HDI. We bought the C8 but shortly after, read the horror stories of cam belt failure so we decided to get it changed. Managed to get a reasonable price including service with all fluids and filters changed for £390. However I can't stop noticing the more than i would like black smoke when taking off at junctions. Also while accelerating under load (up a gradient for example) I can hear a rapid ticking noise. After a bit of googling ive come to conclude its the injectors??? MPG seems a little down also.
I have lexia (packed away in a box somewhere, as we've just moved) would this tell if the problem is the injectors? if so, how?
If the problem is the injectors, whats the most cost effective way in getting this fixed? could this be causing the excessive smoke at lower speeds? Alot of questions I know but would appreciate any help you can give.
