we went to look at an X reg Synergie and a Y reg Pug 806 both apparently same engine,
the Synergie has had all the front removed right back to the engine, all parts still there except the front bumper and head lamps,
the 806 is complete with half leather and under bonnet fuel pump leaking,
the owners intend to sell both but not the Pub before sorting the fuel pump,,
my question is were do the HDI fuel pumps ( cam belt driven ) leak and is it an easy fix,
what other things to look for/at,
i dont think we will be buying both, more likely to buy the Synergie, which they will either be removing the pump from unless i can supply them with a good replacement

Re: HDI fuel pump leak?????
No idea where they normally leak, but I wrote about the leak on My Xsara's Bosch pump here: http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 14&t=43390
Is it a 90HP or 110? It seems to me that as a general rule the 110's get the Bosch pump but the 90's are often Siemens in which case the above won't help.
Nothing much else commonly goes wrong with these as I'm sure the synergie/806, (like my Xsara which is from the same era) will not have a particulate filter or a dual mass flywheel. Camshaft pulleys with the rubber bit in them don't last forever, There is a picture of mine in the thread I linked to above.
EDIT: Just had a google and Synergie/806 HDI's are all 110HDi's but they did start fitting the 16V engine some time in 2001 before production stopped Feb 2002. This surprised me, as my Xsara is an '03 and they never had the 16V. Both X and Y reg may or may not be earlier than whatever time in 2001 they started fitting th 16V engine. If it does have a 16V engine then beware seized injectors, which have to be removed before you can get the cam cover off should the need occur (which was quite likely with the early C8's and '807's that replaced the synergie/806)

Re: HDI fuel pump leak?????
Siezed injectors have nothing to do with cam covers... they affect removal of the inlet manifold.. which of course sits over the rocker cover..but ONLY on 16v engines. Injector siezure was only an issue on early 2.2 16v engines.
Hdi fuel pumps can leak from the top where the third piston plug goes to the pump and the shaft seal behind the pump pully like an xud pump.
In good old xantia hdi world both the 90 and 110 engines both used bosch pumps and were identical
.when it comes to synergyes etc you start crossing into fiat terrotry.. and there then of course fiat have their own jtd engines which could of been fitted instead of psa.. psa only 16v engine was the 2.2 hdi up to around 2004/5 when the 2.0 16v came along.. so id tread carefully you could be looking at something thats not Psa citroen at all..
Some of the psa hdi engines were double badged as fiats jtd or multijets.. but im certain psa's 2.0 16v was not around till 05

Re: HDI fuel pump leak?????
the guy told me the fuel leak is at the back/bottom of the pump,
until he sends me the chassis/VIN No.'s im not sure which engine/s are fitted, although both look the same on first impression,
and the pumps look similar to the one Sir Jim shows in bits in another thread

Re: HDI fuel pump leak?????
ok Paul thanks
i did have another look at the one Jim rebuilt and as you say it is Lucas
,
i have seen a picy of the type of pump on the Synergie and 806 on a forum over the weekend somewhere
looking on service citroen at variates of Synergie 2.0 HDI they use the Bosch pump,
