Ahh right, I see...

In my experience of a number of V6s Steve, my own present two being typical, I find some times they start on the button almost before the key is turned and other times they seem to give a Gallic shrug and get all petulant and reluctant for a few seconds. No rhyme or reason to it...

I just put it down to them being French...

Phew..... that's good news Jim, I was just a bit wary..... however, I can live with it if you're saying that yours are the same.

That just leave the gearbox switch, when I can find the time to get to Paul's

Fancy trying the 72ah battery Steve as 62ah should be enough for the td so don't mind swapping it :)

I think it's just a case that they are the original lead type ones Jim and the posts on the battery I put in for him are just a tiny but bigger for some reason, odd but just how it was.

Will, I think I'll leave the battery for now, it could just be me, expecting it to start like the Polo.

You can still call if you want, the kettle is never off...

That sounds like typical ES9 with low volts to the solenoid. The starter kicks in, but there is not enough current though the solenoid coil to firmly close the main contacts and the starter runs slowly and the contacts burn. A few months of that and the main contacts burn out completely and even the relay mod wont save the starter. Get the relay mod done pronto.

Relay mod has been done, and that's what it's like afterwards.....

I'm beginning to wonder if I should call this car "Christine" it seems to be the car from hell.

It's only a few niggles Steve ;)

Won't be able to stop by now as it took me nearly an hour to load the xm with the wood pipe this morning and there is still over 1/3 if it left!

Also got my lexia unit this morning so going to be looking for install instructions for that later as only 2dvds came with it and one of those is upgrade patches.

Fingers crossed it will work ok in xp vm in windows 7 otherwise I'll be copying the DVDs to USB stick and installing them on the x61 with a spare hdd installed and win xp sp3 on :/

2 discs are correct (well, that is how many I got from Easy Diagnostics). It will run under Windows 7 (32 bit). I have just taken photos of the instructions, and they appear legible. If you PM me your e-mail address I will send them to you.

It's the right colour nearly to be Christine...

Most XMs are far worse if that's any consolation... By XM standards your Xantia has been no bother at all Steve..

Funnily enough, my car is often referred to as Christine, named after the movie, particularly when she's giving me trouble

Diagbox works fine in a VM so long as the VM supports enabling pass through for the USB device. If your Windows 7 is 32 bit it will run natively, if its 64 bit you'll need a VM. Even the free Oracle virtual box can be made to do the job so you don't need something fancy or expensive.

Well I think I have it installed inside an xp sp3 machine as it picks up the actia unit but can I get the software to activate with the keygen??!! Can I balls!

Spent an hour on it tonight so tomorrow will blow it away and start again and go straight for the diagbox install and hope that works :(
