Things are starting to fall into place for productive weekend of Xantia sorting, I've managed to acquire a pair of OEM drop links, along with a pair of OEM Ultrasonic sensors to replaced the dysfunctional ones. I'm also planning on having a look at fixing the front fog lights, plus after a conversation with Paul, the steering column shroud. The penultimate thing is to try and fix the boot light.....
Then, if I get chance, a winter coat of wax and gloss protection.........

Fingers crossed your foglights fix will be as easy as mine was Steve

Steve, if it all gets too difficult you can always pop it down here for fixing...

Thanks Jim, I'm hoping that most of it I can do, the one I'm going to struggle with is the boot light, and that's because wiring diagrams are patterns for knitting spaghetti to me....

Well, you have those disks I gave you, and (with any luck) there will be a wiring diagram for your Xantia.

If you're referring to Sedre then sadly the S1 Xantia is not covered

Steve, chances are the boot light fault is the little tilt switch. It's a couple of ball bearings in a tube that make a circuit to earth the tube is off-vertical.
The balls get corroded and I find it's impossible to clean them and make the thing reliably functional again...
It's a white tube you can see behind the boot lid trim...

Jim, I've changed it twice to no avail, so I've got a small flick switch that the spade connectors should fit, I'll give that a try.....

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
That'll be a good test Steve.. Hopefully it's not a wiring fault but if it is chances is that if it is it'll be in the concertinas that connect the tailgate to the body.. Hatches rarely suffer here, unlike estates...
I have all the pictures of the spaghetti in that region if you need them...

Re: V6 Xantia......... the beginning of another adventure
Why is it when you start making a list of jobs I want to tackle on the Xantia this weekend, the list just gets longer
Drop links
Parking sensors
Boot light
Ultrasonic sensors
Antifreeze
Top up LHM
Remove traffic camera
Steering column shroud
Check tyres
Valet
And I'm sure I've forgotten something

It's normal Steve....Trainman wrote:Why is it when you start making a list of jobs I want to tackle on the Xantia this weekend, the list just gets longer![]()
Gosh, even Simon has a list of jobs on his as long as your arm and we both know his car is as close to Xantia perfection as it can get.
So, on that basis....
Anyway, have fun with it this weekend and generally have a great weekend

I plan to get as much sorted as I can before the end of the month, I'm trying to decided whether to SORN her or tax her......... either way I want to get as many jobs done as possible, then I can get her in for the paintwork over the winter ready for the X rally.
At least that's the long term plan......
