expert steering

Unread post by daviemck2006 »

I have a leak from my steering rack on the Expert. Before I go buy a rack and get it fitted is there any chemical additions like stop leak specifically for steering rack leaks?

I think the racks are quite expensive for these, shared with 806/Berlingo as well. I seem to remember they are a right pain to fit too, I could be wrong ie subframe off etc. Hopefully I am wrong. :)

Regarding products: Yes, Wynns make a product in a toothpaste type tube, a Power Steering Stop Leak. No idea what its like though. Other manufacturers may make something too. Halfords or a factor usually have it.

I'll try some stuff in it to see what happens. It still has a long test so I'm not too worried just now. I had a y reg ulysse jtd, basically the same which got a steering rack, It came out with no major problems, job done totally in about 3 hrs by a couple of amateurs, namely me and someone less of an amateur than me!
