51 plate C5 Hdi rear arm swap

Post by citroenxm »

Had a new enquiery yesterday from someone with a C5. His rear i thnk near side rear arm is cracking in operation so he had it up onca ramp and discivered metal fileings falling from it.. he went to my local garage. Anyway they reccomended he came to me to have any work done so i sugested a complete arm swap for another due to possible unit damage if its gone to far.

What sort of a job is an arm change on a c5 is it as good as a Xantia/Xm one? Has any one done a swap before.

I realise theres bearing kits but im concerened that the arm itsself could be damaged inside the bearing houses etc..

its much the same/as easy as the BX, CX, XANT, XM realy Paul,

though the C5 metal pivot spacer tube is shorter/does not come out to the face of the spacer bush's,
the spacer bush's have a recessed seat inside for the spacer tube,

i found you need to buy the bearings and seals from GSF and the spacer/pivot tube and spacer's from citroen,

all the parts in the usualy kit are not the same on C5's

there is a thread on C5 arm bearing way back were???? that i posted all the part price's, part No.'s and were i bought them from

hope this helps

Spoiler: show
see Paul i knew Sir Steeeeve baby could do it =D> =D> =D> :eye: :teabag: :teabag: :teabag:

Paul obviously its your choice to fit a new plastic arm liner,

o more often than not salvage the old one,

but i have loads of new ones from kits i have bought over the years
