C5 Airbox removal

Post by Bandit12 »

hi guys,

Ben82 and myself are talking the dreaded auto gearbox oil change on my C5 2.2 HDI on saturday. Got 5 litres of the proper stuff from Opie sitting by the tool kit in readiness.

I had a quick look under the car with a torch to familairise myself with the location of the various drain/breather/filler plugs and came to the conclusion that the airbox will need to be removed. Daft thing is i could not see how it is attached to the car? It appears to be attached to the battery box but there are no obvious nuts/bolts or screws. This is my first Citroen with all previous car experience being Ford mondeo/granada so do I have to do someting very French like remove the battery (bonnet or front wheel-haha) to expose the bolts? the Haynes manual is useless cos it does not cover the 2.2 engine at all.

Any tips or guidance for this simple yet complicated task are appreciated.

Bandit :-)

Unscrew and remove the lid and the filter, unclip the wires that pass along the side then just lift it out, you'll find it's slotted into the side of the battery bracket, no fixing screws.
Man is, by nature, a lazy beast, he does not need twice encouraging to do nothing.

just one thing Gibbo has missed out ! at the rear of the slots where the air box connects to the battery box is a push in clip which once pushed will allow the box to be slid upwards.

Great thanks for that, Citroens are a little bit 'different' to work on and I'll take all the help i can. Perhaps I should have a glass of claret and hang some onions round my neck before I start?! :-)
