ZX factory fit radio

For no apparent reason, the LED display on my ZX in dash rad/cas works fine giving the station e.g. 95.8FM until I turn on the lights, then it completely vanishes!![:(!] I know that when the lights are turned on the clock and radio maybe should dim slightly, but the radio display just vanishes completely......... As I leave at 6.20AM in the dark and return in the evening in the dark, the radio display is always blank. I have now resigned myself to a lifetime of Radio 2. At me age perhaps I'm a confirmed "Tog" ??? [:)]
Is this something fixable or should I scrap the thing and go and buy a Fascia adapter and one of those £99.99 radio and CD player things??
PS Radio fascia adapter £10.89 from Citroen but every week some clown [:o)] on Ebay advertises them for £29.99 minimum bid!!!

I went the adapter + multi cd route, this when the adapters were <£10. If you do, keep the old radio in case you sell the car on.

why not just cut the sidelight feed wire going into the radio then you'll have a nice bright display all the time [8D]

I'd opt for a MP3/CD Player, no need to have a multichanger, you could have your entire colletction of ABBA [:)]on a couple of CDR's. Cost 40p. There are various models about, price range seems to vary all the time so I won't quote any, just look about. You're on the computer all the time just burn the MP3's while you wait. If you need a fascia adapter you can have my spare one for £5+p&p. Just email if interested.
I was lucky enough to win my MP3 player and I won't go back!!
