How to use the roof bars on the C5 (2009)

They just sit there, and I haven't the faintest idea how I would use them.

If I can use them with some neat accessories, then why not?

Is the idea to buy some cross bars sort of thing to which I can then attach hideous things like a cycle rack or box?

I assume estate car?
You can buy bars to stick a roofbox on.
I have the proper Citroen ones but I wish I had bought whisper bars for slightly more instead.
I think you can get about 80 kg on the roof

I made some ally ones at work, needed to swipe some ladders for a weekend.
Ugly but they did the trick

No longer have the estate so can't do that trick any more

I have a roofbox as the child's stuff and the wife's disability scooter mean the inside is cram packed. Getting a wheel chair, ramps and a few other bits onto the roof is a great benefit.

I do find the boot a bit restricted - especially when camping, the blinking tent alone doubles in size when striking camp. Maybe a roof box is needed?

What cost a roof box, roughly? Any idea?

I've used a Halford's box for several years. They are currently just under £100, but often in the winter they have them at a lower price.

I tried halfords first as some if theirs are made by reputable company. But they didn't have the internal measurements.
