faulty rev counter

Unread post by froggy »

Hi, on my 1996 Xantia TD, the rev counter works fine , when driving around the country lanes.....but when I drive on the motorway....it falls to zero. do I need to replace? if so, never done one before......how difficult is it to do ? cheers Terry.

Is the mileage counter still working, if so its the speedo itself, if not the signal from the sensor is missing, possibly a fault on the plug that connects it on the gearbox end of the cylinder head.

Froggy said rev counter Peter not speedo, so not the sensor on the gearbox.

Sorry - yet another senior moment

The possibility of the TDC sensor plug is still valid though.
