Xantia MOT prep time :)

Post by mirafioriman »

Well it's that time of the year again :)

Had a look over the old girl tonight. Seems ok except for:

O/S lower ball joint has excessive play-that'll explain the strange rattle/free play i've had in the front suspension then ;)

And the rear arm bearings are needing doing. I've known this for quite a while but never got round to doing them

Work starts in the morning :)

Yeah me too!

Changed the driver's side bottom ball joint (had to remove the hub as it was so tight), also changed the driver's side front strut as it was leaking LHM. Did the driver's side rear arm bearings too.

I noticed when it was disassembled that the driver's side track rod end was past its best so I've now got one of them to fit in a day or two.

Congratulations! I couldn't get the track rod end out the track rod so i've got the whole track rod off. The new one arrives at 8 in the morning, then I have to fit it and get it to the MOT station for 11!

I ended up replacing the whole alternator rather than the regulator and brush pack. That's done so at least the battery is getting charged :)

Might need at least one front tyre now though :(

Forgot to update this. It passed without advisories. I have since replaced the front tyres as they had worn on the outer edges. I still need to do the passenger rear arm bearing as it creaks and groans at times.
