heater motor and heated rear screen

Unread post by thomas »

The blower motor and heated window have stopped working - both at same time. I have replaced the ignition switch and problem not cured is there a relay that controls both and can I obtain a wiring diagram.

Had a similar problem with the rear heated window in my Xantia 2.0 16v estate. I found the problem to be a broken cable inside the rubber "tube", just where the cable is routed from the trunk door to the body. The cable looked cut and must somehow have been jammed. I do not know it this is a standard problem on the estate models, but it is easy to check, just pull back the rubber and have a look.
The relay for the rear window is not the same as for the blower motor on my car, but I know they redesigned the electrical bits on later models.

hi.
Try bridging the two spade connectors in the brown connector block. Make sure the wires you bridge are the ones going to the ign switch. This should make the heater and rear window heater work. Use wire that can handle 30 amps.
No result? then most likely its the main power bus. Follow the + terminal from battery.
This box and the igntion switch are the only connection that these two have in common.

bridging the 2 pin brown connector gonig to the ignition switch will only tell you that the ignition switch is faulty which has already been repaced, the xantia 2 circut will be a bit different,i think there may be an engine running relay on the xantia 2,it could be faulty or missing a feed.if the set up is the same as the diagrams in the link then i would check for a feed at the 2 pin brown on the ign switch,if thats ok i would check the feed going into the 2 pin brown connector on the fusebox then go from there.
