Keep 'Sport' mode always on?

Post by Jabo »

Hey guys,

I want to know how to keep the Sport mode always on in my mk1 C5. There's no option on the Lexia software to do it but I bet it can be done mechanically.

Any idea?

Its an electronic toggle though as far as I'm aware same as snow / winter mode (I did actually look at this about a year ago for a GM car but could not get anywhere) was easier to just press the button each time :(

It would probably want some custom tweaking to the ECU coding itself, its only going to be a flag to set it, doing it without damage is another matter.

I suppose you could do something daft like intercept the connectons going to the switch and wire a little relay in parallel to it that closes when you engage the starter, thus engaging sport mode.

But that's a bit of a faff

Can't see that pressing a button causes so much grief. Not worth the possible problems it could cause, besides, it might be difficult to sell on unless you changed it back.

I think doing that would cause problems as they are likely signals from the ECU, the only other way would be to relay contact them so they momentarily closed does seem a lot of trouble.

Exactly my point in the second post. You have to press the remote to get in the car and turn the key in the ignition, its not exactly a major hardship to press the Sport button. (in my opinion)

Or just buy a Xantia, where the sport mode button is actually a switch that stays in the last selected position.
