Xantia sinking more with Hydraflush in system

Post by charentejohn »

Just in the middle of a hydraflush (700mls, only another 300 to go) and I noticed the car tends to settle more over the course of a few days if not used.
Probably normal as the flush is thinner ? than LHM so would seep past seals more ?

After fitting hydraflush and bleeding everything car runs well and Stop light which used to take 20 secs+ to go out after standing a few days now take 2 secs max.
When hydraflush first fitted if left for 3 days the car would sink a couple of cm or so, when parked rear wheel arch is above the tyre by about 2cm and after the 3 days just below the tyre.
After 1000km of hydraflush now sinks to well below the tyre, about 4cm of sinking instead of 2 and a bit cm.

I assume this is normal and when I fit the new LHM it will return to only sinking about 2cm if left for a while.
Not worried, just curious. Then again if flushing has found a weak spot I may as well fix it now.

Its viscosity when cold, is much less than LHM Plus. Your observations probably reflect this aspect.

Thanks Addo, nice to have it confirmed. Not so hot here at the moment so a bit of extra sinking over time not a problem.
I am still offering lifts to anyone who wants to go a fair distance so I can put the green stuff back in. :)

Hydraflush is also less 'greasy' than LHM, so it must not be used for more than 3,000 miles, otherwise things can start to bind.

No problem, I am struggling to put the miles on the car so as soon as it hits the 1000 miles I will change it.
