Erratic Tacho Driving Me Nuts!!!

Post by greggpask »

I have a Xantia 1.9tdsx, and just recently the needle on the Tacho has gone nuts? When i first start up and for 10 miles or so it behaves itself then it starts jumping around like made.If i am doing a motorway drive it is ok for a while then just gives up the will to live and stays on zero, until you stop turn off, then restart. Then it then carries on as i have explained. Can anyone help or have had the same thing happen to them.

Diesel tachos works off a flywheel TDC sensor - located at the flywheel on the clutch bellhouse.
Check the cabling for this sensor. The sensor itself is usually a small magnetic coil (hall) sensor commonly with a 3lead connector.
