LHM overflow

Post by mark_l »

Hi, everybody!
Permanent wetness or pool on the top of LHM tank.
Level indicator-near upper ring (high position).
Thanks ahead for any suggestion.[:D]

Has the fluid been changed or topped-up recently? Apart from the mess, it won't do harm. If you dip a finger in the tank, you should just manage to reach the surface.

Yes, before 1.5-2 month reservoir was dismantled and LHM topped.
Is round rubber seal hermetic?
Thanks.[:D]

If you mean the reservoir rubber cap - it MUST not be hermetic - should have a breather pipe attached with a filter at end.

I mean 3.5-4 inch DIA seal of upper unit, where all pipes connected and filters installed. Not breather's cup.

OK - I've never seen these to be hermethic - seems to rely on the spring force over the plastic manifold - from the reservoir retainer clip.

You haven't just had the brake pads replaced have you?
A common reason for overflowing LHM-tanks:
Pads worn - low LHM level.
+
Fill LHM tank
+, sometime later
Replace pads
=
LHM all over the garage floor

One of the small return pipes leaking? or the plastic stubs on to which the pipes fit?

Or a blown sphere making nice bubbles in the lhm ( just had similar symptoms when filling the lhm up after driving 1/2 mile without any :-) )

Thanks everybody for Your replies.[:D]
Anders-it seems I have check how the seal fits or replace it by new-more elastic.
NiSk -no breaks treatment was done, but thanks for reminding-I forgot to "drain" LHM from dead ends after changing.[^]

WOW!
Rear seems more stiff+LHM level "playing" +-2 mm on high position when checked with interval of some days.[B)]
Rear still dives 4.5 cm each side under my (oh my God!) 85 kg.
Are there any additional sympthoms?
Thanks again.[:D]
