I'm not aware of a TU powered Xantia but I do believe there was a 1588cc XU version without power steering. Never imported into the UK though...
Ah OK. That seems odd though on a hydraulic car to not have have a power rack fitted as there's already 90% of the parts already present.
Seemed a very well equipped model at the time, especially as it was near the "end of line" so they tended to fit extra's anyway, reminds me of the last 306's most had a fair bit of equipment fitted.
Yes the 406 Break / Estate did not arrive until late P plate if I remember correctly, and auto's arrived (both 4 and 5 door) around the same time. I *think* it coincided with the switch from keypad to transponder as well but I'm not 100% sure on that. Something tells me there are a few breaks with keypads.
