Laguna VS alternatives

Unread post by Graham S »

Hello All,

I posted on this Forum last year re a 407 I never got a chance to buy for various dull reasons...

Thinking of going for a recent Laguna - they seem unloved and easily class competitive. I was wondering, given the amount of expertise on hear, which to go for?

I favour petrol but can be convinced!

I like this... http://www.usedcarexpert.co.uk/buy/rena ... d-9233498/ - seems amazing value to me.

Any advice or alternative recommendations highly welcome...

Best

Steer clear of the 1.9 and 2.2Dci models, they are renowned for blowing turbo's/unreliable. The 2.0Dci is a lot better bet and so far has been very reliable, the 1.6 & 1.8 engines are no better mpg wise than the 2.0 due to the weight of the car. My 1.6 returned 26mpg! :shock: Common faults are front window winder mechs failing and blocked sunroof drains causing interior leaks, electrics are sketchy so make sure everything works.

We previously had two laguna 2's and when it came to change we went for a laguna 3 estate with the 2.0 Dci 175 bhp in dynamique S spec , I can only advice you for a diesel as they are the better option , we've had ours nearly 1 1/2 yrs and only had a droplink on it , fantastic cars , you WON'T be dissapointed ,I'd avoid the petrol tbh .

Cheers for all the help.

Actually - the wife has decided it'll be a DCI - 2.0 litre I guess - like this one... http://www.usedcarexpert.co.uk/buy/rena ... d-9045855/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

A lot of modern car for the money I'm sure you'll agree!

Cheers for the help - any further suggestions welcome!
