Well done in getting a Zx16v , I'm pretty sure you'll love it , I can't wait for the pics . I hope the MoT goes well and you can get to Wetherby and we can get them together . If you need any advise on it the Zx16v net forum is a great wealth of knowledge .

Well i got it home fine 160 miles , avac system not moving, temp is a constant 95 degrees, fan cuts in ok but on such a cool day i would expect it to be 80 degrees??, owner claiming it has a winter thermostat fitted ?? which ive never heard of - no signs of boiling over or oil mixing with oil etc, needs 2 tyres for MOT and also needs an engine mount - exhaust is vibrating against something but only when revving hard - dunno which one yet, needs a good polish but im more concerned about avac which is known to effect performance and temp - any advice would be great

I'm sure someone had posted a repair for the acav system over on the Zx16v net forum , I think the rubber tubes/pipes perish ? My 16v takes a while to warm up and temp can get upto around 95 when in traffic or if left ticking over for a while but the fans kick in ok . While driving the temp stays pretty low , I've heard of different thermostats for summer and winter but that was years ago ? The exhaust issue could be just an adjustment/mounting issue .
Check the sills/jacking points as they can be a weak spot on the Zx , rear subframe mounts/bushes . Overall a fantastic little performance car , and imo a better buy than a Bx16v although they are slightly quicker but don't handle anything like the Zx16v , in all the service history mine has it's not wanted much other than consumables etc , don't forget the timing belt and waterpump replacement if it's not had one and a good flush of the cooling system every 3yrs , remember it's a 20 yr old Citroen and it will have issues never mind how small , mine has but when I drive it I just love it . I look forward to some pics and hope you can make it to Wetherby .

Also I think you can get uprated engine mounts , Bm baker do them possibly , I drove a Zx16 years ago and you could hear a knocking under acceleration on that . If you make it to Wetherby your welcome to have a drive of mine . The speedo could be a cable issue ? I know on the 1.9i volcane it was on the back of the engine block easily accessible but I'm not sure on the 2.0 16v , I will find out .

gonna have a fiddle 2 moro checking pipes etc and also try a new thermostat - the car barely done 300 miles a year since 2008 - shame about the tyres but it was so wet in Liverpool i never even noticed how bad the cracking was on them.

I've known people remove the acav system and replace it completely with a pug 306 Gti6 one. Really below 4000rpm there's not much but hit 4000rpm and it goes and goes .

Sounds like a good flush of the cooling system and a new thermostat should help things out , and the tyres which should be 195/55/15's and are a fair bit pricier than 50 profile which some people put on , try to stick to branded if possible , it's worth the extra outlay . Mines got Toyo proxes T1r's and they've been great . Had the seller had it stood all that time ? There way too nice to leave sat doing nothing , I feel guilty if mines left for more than 2 weeks .

Hi,
I just had one of my Diaphragms go. Where the AVAC hose connects to it, it had snapped off. This is quite a common fault and about my 3rd one over several years.
I have tried to glue them in the past but always failed. However I have discoverd that if you remove the inside of a BIC biro pen (that has run out!) and cut about 1cm length of it, it fits perfectly into the diaphragm. Add a bit of superglue around the edge and let it dry. The hose (with the bit of plastic from the diaphragm still in it) then slides perfectly over the bit of biro that is now glued into the diaphragm. Add a bit more glue and let it dry. Then cover it all in sealent just to make sure and give the repair some support! Its a bit fiddly but appears to have worked and is better than buying a new one!
Cheers
Stu

There's a couple of bits about the acav system etc over on there should help .

Acav working but only on left (drivers side) so im guessing the diaphragm is broken and i snapped the bugger off anyway checking the pipes =D> did the biro repair but to no avail, gonna need both front anti roll bar drop links as the rubbers on them are goosed ?? although they dont knock -easy job - done loads of xantia and bx ones, everything else seems fine , sills look good - passenger footwell welded in past and drivers footwell is solid but needs sealing, windscreen fit is crap with white cloud all around.
