Any Idea about replacing my 306?

Hi, My wife's uncle is thinking about replacing his 306, have you got any ideas what he could go for? new or up to 12 months old, price up to....aha, not over say £9000

How about a C2 HDI. But you'd have to scrape together another £295. From what I've read, Citroen are about to have a winner.

A one year old C5 HDI?
Better for long distances than driving round towns, but like a sofa always.
