clutch problem peugeot 206 1.9 diesel

Post by ektor »

When I press the clutch paddle and put the first gear the car does not work. I checked the clutch cable and it is ok. I want to know what's wrong? Thank you

What is happening when you press the pedal ? Does it feel normal / too light ?

I assume your car is LHD as most if not all RHD 206 1.9 have a hydraulic clutch setup...

Is there any odd noise when you press the pedal ?

Verify that the release arm is moving on top of the gearbox too (get someone to watch it when you press the pedal)

Yes which side the controls are on, does not matter that much though really.

What about noises when you press the pedal with and without the engine running ?

Is the release arm moving enough ?

I suspect that the problem is the clutch, because the engine runnes but when I put the first gear the car does not function.

what happens if you put it into other gears 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or reverse,

if it feels like it is going into gear but nothing happens it could be the diff has failed
