Has anyone had any experience of removing the above only my tailgate struts are shot - is it worth the effort or do I prop it up with a stick?

Pity I didn't learn French. Are they the rear window struts he is replacing as he doesn't appear to have removed the headling - or am I being stupid as usual.

Re: C5 estate head lining.
Thanks for posting that video, my struts are getting tired so it may come in handy. It didn't show very clearly how the struts fix at the awkward end but didn't look too bad a job although I can imagine lots of platsic trim clips going ping/snap!

The fellow's a proper "all round" mechanic - notice the cuts and scrapes on his hands?
With the clips there is a certain level of confidence and sharpness of force required, also if it's too cold they are more brittle.
About the only things of note in the narrative are "Keep the clips" (from the outer end) and (from memory) saying you need a professional set of circlip pliers for the other end. This latter point means not a pair of the wibbly-wobbly multi-adaptable inside/outside pliers, but a good stout set of side acting external circlip pliers.

Re: C5 estate head lining.
Any updates on this issue? Got mine out easily enough.
Can a new strut be put in the assembly? ie does it come apart?
How many people here have regassed theirs successfully?

Didn't think that was bad for a pair. Don't know what carriage to Aussi would be.

I'm pretty sure like most of the ones on eBay, they are for the window, not the tailgate.Peter.N. wrote:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-C5-Es ... 4d046d333a
