c5 going into ECO mode overnight

Post by jgra1 »

chaps.. just started happening..
I did finally fit the clutch switch for the cruise control, then not long after - the radio remote stalk went dead,
then, about the same time, the eco mode is coming on after a few hours with car locked..

is there likely to be a connection between ECO mode and the failed stalk?
does the stalk go into/have anything to do with - the comm unit?
is the reason for this saving mode something a lexia may give a quick answer too?
I will try and check the battery voltage after a period of inactivity, and I may (carefully) disconnent and reconnect the battery..

I am supposed to be driving car on my road trip in a week.. slight panic..

Thanks for any insight..

Mine goes into eco mode after a couple of hours with the engine off. I don't let it worry me. I'm off on a short 500-1000 mile trip in a week or so too, and all mine is getting is a fluid check. It has already had a wash and brush up. I was looking at the hand book today because the Citroen assist button light came on for no reason, and I noticed that prior to disconnecting the battery, you are supposed to disable the alarm (if you have one).

thanks qpr.. just odd that it's only just started doing it..
battery was 12.38 after an hour of rest..
car starts ok .. but I just want to know why it's suddenly started doing it really..

any thoughts on what a lexia may tell, anyone?

hmm ...I can't disable my alarm qpr.. partly as the only key I have has no buttons, but also the alarm seems to be an aftermarket..

last night I did the battery disconnect/reconnect - over a 2 hour period while I was busy doing something else.
and the eco mode wasn't to be seen this morning, and the stereo stalk is back working
;)

Result!
Mine's due a service in July to keep the dealers warranty in force, so I am going to mention the eco mode then.

Can't turn it off, it's a default setting.

Overnight ?? Ours goes into eco mode after about 5 mins, even after a 50 mile journey. This despite a new battery. Citroen garage says the voltage threshold (I think it's 12.4v) cannot be altered. As it's a Tourer, the tailgate's very heavy to lift or close without power assistance, in fact wife cannot manage it at all. So seriously contemplating a low mileage 1998 Volvo V70 SE that's coming up for sale - hardly any electronics !

That's not good Super. Mine goes in after quite a few opening and closing of tail gate and other doors open. Once it's stopped it will work again after engine ran for a little but will Eco again sooner. After a 20 min drive I think it's back to normal. My battery is 3 years old and it's a 2010 model

Thanks, Moose - no, it's not good ! I suppose I could try disconnecting the battery for a while and see if that helps, however the forum mentions disabling the alarm first & I've no idea how to do this.

Actually, instead of a Volvo V70 perhaps I should go back further and get a DS23 Safari !

You can disable the internal sensors. There a button the dash somewhere. Will try to look later.
