It's a miracle. Hdi exclusive

Unread post by isisalar »

Gave the nearside mirror a very gentle nudge yesterday. After re-positioning I now have an auto dip function, and very nice it is too.
Weird, but that's Citroen's for you.

Is that auto dip as in when you put it in reverse - so that you can see better to manoeuvre?
'Cos my nearside mirror currently lifts when it goes into reverse :?

Just adjust it while in reverse! :-D The normal and reverse adjustments of the mirror are memorised independently...

Paul, have you been parking next to any XMs recently? I ask as that's the kind of trick they pull all the time and I'm wondering if their influence and bad habits has rubbed off onto your Xantia...

Jim
I don't think it's been infected by any XM's, but it was parked next to a newish Audi Q3 for 7 days, I think it probably caught it there.
On reflection though it might have something to do with the diesel shower the engine got when I forgot to re connect a leak off pipe. Maybe it cleaned off a sensor? Maybe something was stuck in the housing? We shall never know.
Always some mystery to ponder with these Citroens

Does the Xantia have the same stupid bit to this (as the C5) where the adjustment selector needs to be set to the passenger side adjustment for it to work? I usually have mine set in the centre so I can fold the mirrors in and out to get in and out of the garage. So the useful feature of it being able to point downwards whilst in reverse gets easily forgotten about.

I've checked this on the Xantia and it operates with the selector in any position. Is there some reason it has to be central on the C5?
Just had a thought, are the C5 mirrors turned in by a motor? No such frippery on the Xantia thankfully.

Thankfully not

I've gotten used to the dipping passenger mirror and when I'm driving other cars I really miss that feature. More cars should have it!

Having got used to it, I now wish it was both sides and I'd like to be able to disable it occasionally. Last week I never even had it. Isn't it strange how all this technology is so addictive.
