alternator brushes

can anyone tell me if it is possible to renew the alternator brushes on my 1994 xantia 1.9 turbodiesel and if so, are there any problems getting it off that I should be aware of, any help would be greatly appreciated, many thanks

Should be straightforward, there are several suppliers offering pattern parts of varying quality. Be advised that Valeo in particular, are infamous for slip ring wear (you can buy these, too).

Loosening the pulley with a rattle gun is usually best approach (assuming you are replacing the bearings in a precautionary measure).
