I have a 2000 Xantia HDI and I would like to fit cruise control.
Does anybody have any information on the OE cruise control system fitted to Xantias.
Where is the control unit fitted and is a vacuum actuator used on the throttle, as the vehicle has a 'Drive-by-wire' throttle.
Is it true that cruise control was only fitted as an option to automatic petrol models?
Where could I get the OE parts and fit them. Some of the wiring is already fitted to the vehicle, such as the wiring to the dash switch.
Is the Xantia cruise control system similar to the system now fitted to the C5?

I think you'll find that all you need is the control stalk (costs about £50 in Sweden).
There was a recent discussion on the Swedish Citroën BB Citroënakuten discussing just this matter for the later XM's, where it seems that everything you need except the stalk is already included.
Several (Swedish) Citroën workshops denied this fact until it had been exposed by a direct call to the importers, who said that this WAS the case, after which they agreed that instead of the £600 they had been quoting, the price for the stalk was £50 and the fitting cost less than £100 (which is still robbery, since it only takes relatively handy amature about an hour to fit it!)
So much for honesty amongst Citroën dealers/Workshops!

I've had cruise control fitted to my last three vehicles and now, I would hate to be without it. For the first two vehicles I bought the kit and fitted myself since the pickup only involved fixing magnets, on the first to the propshaft and on the second vehicle, to the o/side driveshaft. On my 2.1 Xantia, because the kit is much more complicated to fit, I had it done by the supplier. There are several companies which will supply and fit. Try www.ultimatedesign.co.uk or www.conrad-anderson.co.uk The company I used is in Kidderminster. Easycruise - Tel: 01562 827730
Thanks for the advice.
I will contact the dealer and enquire about the price of a cruise control stalk.
I must also check the vehicle to see if there is a plug left for this switch on the wiring loom.
Do you know does any programming need to be carried out to the engine ECU or will the system work if I connect the on/off switch and the stalk and drive away?
Does anybody know of any information on this on the internet?

According to the persons concerned, as far as the XM from '97 on is concerned, everything is already fitted (except the stalk) both owners who have reported their findings say that it was just a case of fitting the stalk and connecting to an exisiting connector block hidden behind one of the blank switch panels on the dash.
There has been quite a lot of discussion about it but unfortunately it's all in Swedish. This is the thread if you are interested:
