03 picasso 20l hdi front right hand side squeal

03 picasso 20l hdi front right hand side squeal

hi and thanks in advance i am new on here and just bought an 03 2.0l hdi picasso there is a squeal coming from the front driverside around the altanator it is not there all the time but i have noticed when i have my multi meter connected to battery it reads 14.3 volts but then when the squeal starts it drops to 11.7v any help on this would be appreciated thanks

The alternator belt is slipping.

am i right in thinking that i have read somewhere that the alternator drive pully is a slipping clutch type ifso could this be at fault and how does it come off

That I can't help you with, my Hdi's are conventional.

i would just check your belt and tensioners and idlers first,
if these fail it can and does cause the cam belt to fail, as the aux drive belt winds its way into the cam belt housing and under the cam belt
