Thank you and goodbye (for now)

Post by xenton »

I have another ford. It came up for sale at a good price, and I just had to have it.

Incidentally, I found the problem with my fuel system. The low pressure pump in the tank needed replacing. I had brimmed my C5 with petrol and needed to get it back out, so I disconnected the fuel line from the supply rail and connect a live to the fuel pump to pump the fuel out. Every few seconds the flow would weaken, sometimes almost stop, then resume. I thought about replacing, but the regulator or sensor would prob go on 6 months, so I have just decided to scrap the car. I would like to thank everyone on here for all your help.

I would like to give something back. I would like to loan my lexia to the forum indeffinantly. I propose to post it to citrojim and if anyone wants to use it, they simply pay for postage, and it can just go around any members who need or would just like a play.

Anyway if citrojim PMs me an address I'll send it off by way of thanks.

Bye bye for now.

That is a shame Xenton, what model Ford have you got?

The C5 HPi is not really a recommended engine and most if not all will suffer the problem you have had. A shame really as when that engine works its quite decent.

I have a 99 1.8 petrol focus ghia. It's a saloon, which is a bit different not many focus saloons about. Yeah, aside from the fuel issues, a very nice car, though the lack of a heat front windscreen even though it was an exclusive always struck me as a bit strange.

If I'm in need of a car and a Citroen comes up at the right price, I surely will.

I can't think of one Citroen which as a heated front windscreen. It does seem to be a Ford thing, I found the lines in the screen a bit destracting when I drove a Puma but the idea is great. Our old Range Rover used to have a heated front screen and I did get used to the lines in that, it was superb on a winters morning.

Takes all sorts :-D

I think heated windscreens are a good idea, but not good enough for me to want to buy a Ford. Can you still get those chrome electric heaters that stick onto the windscreen and connect to the battery?

I've had a few Fords with heated screens. They're brilliant, and you do get used to the lines eventually.

I believe Ford had/have some patent or restriction that prevented other manufacturers from putting heated screens in without paying dearly for it. Every car should have them.
