1997 Xantia 1.8i 16v Aircon Fan

Unread post by howardaskew »

A few years ago the car had suffered the melted brown connector plug.

I cut the wires extended them with in line crimps (use ratchet crimper) and put insulated female spade connectors that fit directly onto the recessed male spades.

This extended the life of the aircon blower.

Last year I replaced the Aircon blower fan unit after it failed. I think it was from GSF.

This year the fan suffered the full speed problem so I bought a replacement speed control (power transistor type) off eBay. This is the link http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/370752179823? ... 1497.l2649" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;. It cost 17.70p I put the link here because I do not like Ebay but there is little alternative for under £50 and there are many adverts and it is difficult to know which one to choose!
But it worked for me.

Once I had fitted the new parts to the blower and tested it the auto/speed control lever started playing up. It now has very restricted movement. It looks to be tricky to remove or replace.

Now that most of us have digital cameras perhaps we should all start putting links to photos in our posts to assist other readers.

My plan is to get rid of this Xantia (170,000m) and my C5 (234,000m) and replace with newer C5s.
