Remote window closure (406)

Post by Muggins »

ok i am back with another question [:D]
sorry.. i'm making the most of this new found forum eh [:p]
Ok I got a Pug 406 2.0i 16v 1998 (R Reg).. a pal of mine has the same motor in a 1997 (P Reg).. his car automatically closes the drivers window when he locks the doors using both the key and/or the deadlock button on the remote.. mine doesnt.. is this a factory standard thing or an optional extra.. i have looked in the handbook but cant find any fuse or relay that applies to it for me to check.
If anyone has any ideas I would be most grateful
thanks (again) [:I]

If it's any help - I have a 1998 R reg Xantia which probably uses the same system as the 406. It has one touch closing/opening of the driver's window but doesn't operate in conjuction with the door locking.

Muggins,
mine has this feature and is a GLX. What trim level is yours?
I only found this a few weeksn ago and I've had the car 4 years!

Have you tried resetting the windows? The manual tells you how to do this (after the battery was disconnected with a window down). That may help.
Mine is P-reg, so I doubt they deleted this feature by 1998.
You could always speak to your friendly neighbourhood Pug dealer for advice!

Hi there Muggins, I have a 97 2.1 Diesel Executive. Having read this thread, I dashed off and opened all of my windows. Closed the door, pressed the big button, doors locked, windows didnt move, pressed the small button for the deadlocks, all 4 windows closed and the deadlocks operated ! Strange........

Well, I've just been out to my '98 2.1 Xantia SX - and it's p****** down. I opened some of the windows, pressed the button, doors locked, windows stayed down, did the deadlocks, windows still stayed down. Obviously, I haven't got it.

Hi
Early N & P reg 406 GLXs & upwards will shut the windows when they are deadlocked with the remote key, later ones wont, Peugeot removed this feature, Safety reasons?

That's interesting. I have a P-reg 406 GLX with this feature and I find it very useful. Not many people selling these cars mention this feature either.

I cant remember if this window closure feature is mentioned in the early 406 handbooks, But then again most people dont look under the passenger seat for there handbook sitting in its little storage tray either.

Ah is that what that's for!! That should free up some space in the glovebox.
Cheers for that!
