C5 110 HDI Performance Issue

Unread post by StevieOMG »

Wonder whether I can call on the experts for some advice. Recently my series 1 estate (130k) seems to lack any poke. Will cruise fine but getting up to a sensible motorway speed takes time and overtaking in 5th has become a no no. I have adjusted accelerator cable (was quite low and now level with brake pedal) changed oil and all filters, ran injector cleaner through system and given it an Italian tune up. No warning lights, starts first time and doesn't appear to be using an additional fuel.

I assume that there is a difference between OEM and aftermarket. They seem to range from £30 to £120. May opt for a middle range one from Eurocarparts.

I paid £135 for mine from the dealer (2 actually, ruined the first one, water and crap sucked into it by the induction system when the wheel arch liner went missing).
The current one was bought by the previous owner from an eBay seller for considerably less (around £80 IIRC) and seems to be holding up OK.
MPG is still crap though, made no difference.

Hopefully having cleaned this one (first time since car was new in 03 and with 130k on it) it will last a little longer. Have put cheap one in son's corsa some 18 months ago and that Is still going strong.

Poor mpg can be the electro valve that supplies vaccum to the turbo, swap pipes and electric connector with egr electro valve
