It'll be interesting to see how such a low mileage example fairs under every day use. I guess its had the belts done?

Nah, belts will be fine

You what!
The originals belts will be 15 years old - way past replacement time. Even Citroen reckon only 10 years or 70,000 whichever comes FIRST - that's generally thought to be over-optimistic; 5 years or 50,000 is more realistic. I bought our '96 n-plate 1.9TD estate at 11 years and 67,000 miles with belt and spheres due (by my reckoning). I drove it home to Gloucestershire from W. London very gently and with everything crossed
A couple of weeks and a few hundred (very gentle) miles later, the belt was removed and found to be about to break - rubber gone brittle with deep cracks on both sides and visible failure of some of the glass 'cords'. Your beautiful Xantia will become scrap very soon if you don't replace the cam belt, and you might as well replace the auxiliary belt which will be in a similar dire state.
Talking of which, we've had the car for nearly 6 years so it's due again. I've got to do the head gasket before we take her to France (1,000 miles in a week) so I'll do the cam belt and water pump at the same time.
