Re: do you realy have to turn it upside down and shake it
Nooo! Don't go removing anything
It is possible, with a lot of shouting and swearing, to replace the bulbs with everything in situ. I have done both sides and while the battery side is much easier (as it can removed, quickly) the other side is just about manageable. However, you do need someone with thin hands and wrists to do it!
If you are struggling then I'm afraid it is a case of removing the front bumper and then the headlight. Which seems a prefered method to removing the LDS tank.

Re: do you realy have to turn it upside down and shake it
thanks Chris
i have had my hand in there and fingers on the plug, im sure i could just about pull the plug off, but getting the bulb back in i think will be more difficult,
as it sits through the opening in the back of the unit and right over to the O/S,
so not only do you have the reach with just your finger tips through the back of the unit, but then have to flex your fingers right over to the O/S inside the back end
who ever designed it wants shooting

Re: do you realy have to turn it upside down and shake it
Designers really aren't bothered about things like this, they don't have to change the bloody bulbs! Try doing a Renault Modus O/S headlamp, 2.5 hrs book time, remove bumper, remove battery, remove air inlet trunking and box just to access the headlamp. £100 bill to change an £8 bulbcitronut wrote:

Re: do you realy have to turn it upside down and shake it
It's time-consuming and difficult to change various bulbs on lots of modern cars designed in the last 20 years - which is why so many are driven around with only one headlight or rear light, very dangerous.

They blatently ignore this rule then. Its like the French authorities insist you carry a spare bulb kit to be legal, but whats the point? Most modern French cars require more than a basic toolkit screwdriver to replace a bulb. In fact a lot of cars will say in the handbook, "consult your dealer for replacement" about various bulbs especially xenon headlamps.GB wrote:

Re: do you realy have to turn it upside down and shake it
i suggested the owner of this car took it to Halfrauds, ye ye i know big mistake,
they attempted to fit the O/S dip beam and side lamp bulb's,
firstly they managed to completely dislodge the headlamp bulb retaining clip, then told the customer they could not finnish the job and on trying to fiit the side lamp bulb broke the glass part clean off then could not get the metal bulb cap section out of the holder,
the owner told them the leave it before they did any more damage,
i had the car back today managed to get the broken remains of the side lamp bulb out, and eventually get it back in were it should be and working,
obviously i will need to have it back when i have space in the workshop to remove the bumper and head lamp to re/fit the bulb retaining spring clip,
what a crap idea, i was going to say design but that would be an insult to design engineers
