Keyfob Battery

Post by Timmy69 »

Hi
I am having a little problem with my key..The problem is it opens the car by remote..from a decent distance too.But i can't lock the car with the key by remote unless i use the key in the lock manually (if that makes sense.Do you reckon i need a new battery or is it buggered ?

Thanks In Advance

It is more likely that the 'lock' button has a failed solder joint. As the car unlocks off the fob, the main electronics are working. I would have a look at the solder joints, and (if you know what you are doing) re-solder any dodgy joints.

Its HIGHLY likely the switch has come away, its a common thing...

The issue is the switchs are surface mounted and have no stengthning mounting... Theres one of two chances. The switch will break off and LEAVE the soldered corners on the board, OR it will break off AND also take the printed circuit with it, which then almost renders it useless...

Remove the cuircuit board Timmy and send it to me.. Ill have a look and see if I can recover it at all for you....

The car WILL still start because the immobilser chip is in the key BLADE and not on the PLIPPER cuircuit board...
