Fuel Leaking Around Filter

Hi All,

I'm new to the forum and was hoping someone would be able to help me.

I seem to be having a problem with my Citroen C8 in that we can constantly smell diesel. We have had the fuel filter changed as it was leaking well at least that’s what we thought it was. What happens is after driving a short distance (the engine getting warmer) the smell gets stronger and stronger through the air vents. After some further checks when the hood up and engine is running we noticed it doesn’t leak but as soon as you ref the engine you can notice it leaks around the filter. As I said the filter has been changed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is the filter leaking around the lid area or one of the connectors? You can take the connectors off one a time using a small screwdriver to lift the locking tab on the union, its not difficult just a little fiddly. It could also be the screw top lid cross threaded or they have left the old O ring on and used another O ring, this can cause a leak between the two. Either way i'd take it back to the garage that changed the fuel filter and ask them to look at it.

i know this is an old thread but just had a bitch of a time with my c5 2.0 hdmi sohc diesel filter housing trying to get it to seal ( still havent managed to get it totally bled cuts out intermittently as if its run out of fuel. A couple of new o rings a bit of ptfe tape and a lot of swearing later its sealed anyone got ideas about bleeding i know they advise not to crack an injector feed due to the high pressure

Aren't these self bleeding systems?
Please don't crack an injector.
